Why and how does water enter continuously into root xylem ?
Solution:
Root cells in the absorbing part of root pick up ions actively from soil. Ions pass inwardly increasing osmotic concentration of xylem. Because of it
soil water (which has very low osmotic concentration) continuously passes into root xylem.
