The mode of the IIT JEE exam is CBT mode, i.e., computer-based test (online)
JEE Advanced examination Pattern 2025 consists of two papers - Paper-1 and Paper-2, and the duration of each paper is 3 hours. The JEE Mains qualified candidates must appear for both papers.

The JEE advanced 1st paper is conducted in the morning shift from 9 am to 12 noon), while the 2nd paper is conducted in the afternoon shift (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm). Each paper consists of 3 subjects - Physics, Chemistry, and Math. ​

It is noticed that generally the questions in Physics and Math are tough, while Chemistry is moderate. Also, the pattern and difficulty level for both papers are the same. The languages of the examination are English and Hindi.

The Type of Question Asked in JEE Advanced Previous Years' Question Paper

Last year, the JEE Advanced previous year question (o, PYQ) had three types of questions -
(1) Multiple choice questions, 
(2) Numerical type, and 
(3) List match sets. 

And, the JEE advanced paper-1 and paper-2 have fifty-four questions each. Eighteen questions from each of the three subjects. So, a total of 108 questions are being asked in both papers.
