How many students appeared in JEE Advanced

Students appeared in JEE Main: JEE Main is the first step to get into IIT admission which is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). According to NTA, the number of students appeared for JEE Main exam 2023 has been revealed. A total of 11,13,325 unique candidates appeared in January and April session of JEE Main 2023. Out of the total number of aspirants registered for the NTA JEE Main exam 2023 session 1, which was 8.6 lakh , 8.22 lakh students appeared for it. In addition, for the NTA JEE Main exam 2023 session 2, a total of 9.3 lakh applied, and out of which, 8.8 lakh students appeared for the exam.

Every year, lakhs of candidates appear for JEE Mains, from which less than half of the candidates qualify for the JEE Advanced. To qualify for JEE Advanced, candidates must rank among the top 2,50,000 candidates in the B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE Main 2023. A total number of 180372 candidates appeared in JEE Advanced.

A total number of 1,80,372 candidates appeared in JEE Advanced, from which 43,773 candidates have been qualified who clear the cutoff of the JEE Advanced exam.

Chances of getting Admission in JEE Advanced (IIT College)

As there are 17,385 seats in IIT colleges and number of students who qualified for JEE Advanced is 2.5 lakh, hence chances of getting admission in IIT college is less than 7%.

How Many seats are in IIT Colleges

There are 17,385 seats available in all 23 IITs across india, which is a slight increase from last year’s total of 16,598 seats.

Quota for Category 

JEE Advanced Reservation Criteria for GEN-EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL

Indian citizens belonging to the categories of scheduled castes (SC), scheduled tribes (ST), other backward class (OBC) and GEN-EWS are admitted under the reserved for them under the rules and guidelines laid by Government of India. Candidates of JEE Advanced 2024 can check category wise reservation matrix of seats (in percentage) which is provided in the following table:

Note : Reservation for the Candidates Claiming PwD Category in JEE Exam. 5% of total seats are reserved from each category for PwD candidates and 20% reservation for girls.

Fee Structure (2023) (Estimated) 

IIT Fee Structure 2023 for B.Tech program ranges from INR 1,00,000 to INR 1,48,000 per semester. Additionally, admitted students must pay hostel charges per their Institute, which can range from INR 12,000 to INR 27,000. IIT is an autonomous body linked through a common council called IIT Council, which oversees and looks at the administration.
