Given, $0.25(4 x-5)=0.75 x+8$
$\Rightarrow \quad x-1.25=0.75 x+8$
$\Rightarrow$ $x-0.75 x=1.25+8$ [transposing $0.75 x$ to LHS and $1.25$ to RHS]
$\Rightarrow$ $0.25 x=9.25$
$\Rightarrow$ $\frac{0.25 x}{0.25}=\frac{9.25}{0.25}$ [dividing both sides by $0.25$ ]
$\therefore$ $x=37$
