Solution:
Required number $=\frac{1}{2} \times\left(\frac{-1}{3}+\frac{1}{2}\right)$
$=\frac{1}{2} \times\left(\frac{-2+3}{6}\right)$
$=\frac{1}{2} \times \frac{1}{6}$
$=\frac{1}{12}$
