Question:
Find the supplement of each of the following angles.
(i) $42^{\circ}$
(ii) $90^{\circ}$
(iii) $124^{\circ}$
(iv) $\frac{3}{5}$ of a right angle
Solution:
Two angles whose sum is $180^{\circ}$ are called supplementary angles.
(i) Supplement of $42^{\circ}=180^{\circ}-42^{\circ}=138^{\circ}$
(ii) Supplement of $90^{\circ}=180^{\circ}-90^{\circ}=90^{\circ}$
(iii) Supplement of $124^{\circ}=180^{\circ}-124^{\circ}=56^{\circ}$
(iv) $\frac{3}{5}$ of a right angle $\Rightarrow\left(\frac{3}{5} \times 90\right)=54^{\circ}$
Supplement of $\frac{3}{5}$ of a right angle $=(180-54)^{\circ}=126^{\circ}$
