Tick (✓) the correct answer

Question:

Tick (✓) the correct answer

If $\frac{6 x+1}{3}+1=\frac{x-3}{6}$, then $x=?$

(a) 1

(b) $-1$

(c) 3

(d) $-3$

Solution:

(b) $-1$

$\frac{6 x+1}{3}+1=\frac{x-3}{6}$

$\Rightarrow \frac{6 x+1+3}{3}=\frac{x-3}{6}$

$\Rightarrow 6(6 x+4)=3(x-3)$

$\Rightarrow 36 x+24=3 x-9$

$\Rightarrow 36 x-3 x=-24-9$

$\Rightarrow 33 x=-33$

$\Rightarrow x=\frac{-33}{33}=-1$
