Latest Status: Expected CBSE Class 10 Exam Dates 2027
Phase 1: Compulsory Main Board Exam (February to March 2027)
Phase 1 is the exam every Class 10 student must appear in. Based on the pattern of recent years, the first paper is likely to fall between 15 and 17 February 2027, and the theory exams should wrap up around the second week of March 2027.
CBSE has been remarkably consistent with its February start. The Class 10 exams began on 15 February in 2023, 2024 and 2025, and on 17 February in 2026. The 2025 Class 10 exams ended on 18 March, while the 2026 Phase 1 exams ran from 17 February to 11 March after a small revision to the end date.
Past Date Sheet Release vs Exam Start
|
Exam year |
Date sheet released |
First paper |
|---|---|---|
|
2023 |
29 December 2022 |
15 February 2023 |
|
2025 |

15 February 2025 |
|
2026 |
Tentative on 24 September 2025; final on 30 October 2025 |
17 February 2026 |
The direction is clear: CBSE now publishes the final schedule roughly three to four months ahead of the exams, which is why a late October to November 2026 release is the most reasonable expectation for the 2027 exams.
Phase 2: Optional Second Board Exam (May 2027)
The two-exam system for Class 10 began in 2026. Phase 2 is optional and is meant for improving marks. In 2026, it ran from 15 to 21 May, and its separate date sheet was released on 23 April 2026, a few days after the Phase 1 result. Expect the same rhythm in 2027: the Phase 2 schedule is likely to come after the Phase 1 result, not with the main date sheet.
What the Subject-Wise Pattern May Look Like
CBSE has not shared the 2027 subject order, so no site can give you verified subject dates today. What we can say from the 2026 schedule:
- Mathematics was one of the opening papers, followed by English, Science and Social Science at a gap of several days each.
- CBSE said it avoided more than 40,000 subject combinations so that no student has two papers on the same day.
- Most papers run from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, while shorter or skill-based papers run from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Treat this as a pattern, not a prediction. The subject order can change every year.
CBSE Class 10 Date Sheet 2027 Release Date
Most Likely Release Window
The most likely window is last week of October to the end of November 2026. Here is the logic:
- For the 2026 exams, the final date sheet came on 30 October 2025, about 110 days before the first paper.
- For the 2025 exams, it came on 20 November 2024, about 86 days before the first paper.
- An exam start near 15 to 17 February 2027 puts a 100-plus-day lead at roughly the first week of November.
A December release is possible but less likely, because CBSE has moved towards earlier announcements and the LOC process for this cycle started in September.
Will CBSE Issue a Tentative Date Sheet First?
In the last cycle, CBSE shared a tentative date sheet on 24 September 2025 and the final one on 30 October 2025. For 2027, no tentative schedule had been reported at the time of writing, so the first official schedule may well be the final one.

CBSE Class 10 Admit Card 2027
When Will the CBSE Class 10 Admit Card 2027 Be Released?
The admit card for regular students is usually released to schools in the weeks before the exams. Expect it around January 2027, after the LOC is finalised and practicals begin. It is not sent to students directly.
How Students Get the Admit Card
- School students: Your school downloads it from its CBSE login and hands it to you.
- Private candidates: They usually download it from the official CBSE website.
CBSE Class 10 Result 2027: Expected Release
Phase 1 Result
The Phase 1 result is expected in April 2027. In 2026, it was declared on 15 April, and the overall pass percentage for Phase 1 was 93.70%.
Phase 2 Result
The 2026 Phase 2 result came on 18 July 2026. A similar timeline for 2027 means a June to July window, though CBSE has not confirmed it.
Where to Check the Result
- CBSE Results portal
- cbseresults.nic.in
- DigiLocker for the digital marksheet
- cbse.gov.in for official notices
Keep your roll number, school number, and admit card ID ready.
CBSE Class 10 Two Exam System: Rules You Must Know
Phase 1 is compulsory. Phase 2 is optional and gives eligible students another attempt at improving scores. CBSE counts the best score in each subject you reappear for, so a bad Phase 2 paper cannot pull your Phase 1 marks down.
Who Can Appear in Phase 2
- Students who appeared in Phase 1 and want to improve marks in up to three subjects from Science, Mathematics, Social Science and languages.
- Students who did not pass one or two subjects in Phase 1 can use Phase 2 to clear them.
- Students who fail three or more subjects are placed in the essential repeat category and are not eligible for the May exam.
Should You Take Phase 2?
Decide after the Phase 1 result, not before. Only attempt it if the marks you can realistically gain in a subject justify four to five weeks of extra preparation. If you plan to start Class 11 foundation work early, balance both.
How to Use the Time Before the Date Sheet Arrives
With the exams roughly 18 weeks away if they start in mid-February, waiting for the date sheet is the wrong strategy. Your plan should not depend on a single date.
18-Week Preparation Plan for Class 10 Boards
|
Phase |
Focus |
|---|---|
|
Now to mid-November |
Finish syllabus revision with NCERT as the base. Make one-page formula and diagram sheets for Maths and Science. |
|
Mid-November to December |
Chapter-wise practice, including important questions for Class 10 and exercise-based problems. Start weekly timed tests. |
|
January |
Full-length papers in exam conditions. Practise with CBSE Class 10 sample papers and the official marking scheme. Complete practicals. |
|
February until the first paper |
Revise short notes only. Re-attempt your weakest chapters. Sleep on schedule. |
While you wait for the date sheet, keep your revision going. If you want a structured plan, eSaral’s Class 10 online course offers live classes and doubt support. To revise the full syllabus faster, you can also look at Class 10 Champ 2027.
Subject-Wise Focus Areas
Mathematics
Practise step-writing. Marks in board Maths are lost more often on presentation and unit errors than on concepts.
Science
NCERT remains the base, since a large share of questions come directly from or closely follow the textbook. Use the NCERT Solutions for Class 10 Science to check your answers, then practise diagram-based and case-based questions.
Social Science
Maps, dates and short answer structure matter. Build one-line answers for each chapter and revise them every week.
English and Hindi
Practise the writing section under time, because format errors cost marks quickly.
A plan works best with regular practice. To test yourself in the board exam pattern, try eSaral’s Class 10 test series.
What to Do the Day the Date Sheet Is Released
7-Step Checklist
- Download the PDF from cbse.gov.in only.
- Mark every paper on a wall calendar.
- Count the gap days between Maths, Science and Social Science.
- Work backwards: assign last 10 days of revision to the paper with the earliest date.
- Share the dates with your school and tutors so mock tests are not scheduled around them.
- Check for clashes with school events, travel or coaching schedules.
- Plan your decision on the Phase 2 attempt for May.
Once the date sheet is out, build a subject-wise revision schedule and pair it with the tests and revision plan in Class 10 Champ 2027.
Can the Date Sheet Change After Release?
Yes, small changes can happen. In 2026, CBSE revised the end date of the Phase 1 Class 10 exams, so keep checking the website once or twice a month until the admit card arrives. If you are planning to appear in Phase 2, eSaral’s Class 10 crash course can help you improve your score in a short time.
