NEET 2025 Paper: Exam Details and Pattern

The NEET 2025 paper was held on 4 May 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM IST in pen-and-paper (OMR) mode. It had 180 compulsory questions for 720 marks, with 45 questions each in Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. From 2025, NTA dropped the optional Section B that NEET 2021 to 2024 had carried.

Your NEET 2025 score is (4 × correct answers) − (1 × wrong answers). Unattempted questions score 0. Follow these steps with the NEET 2025 answer key for your code.

1. Find your code. It is printed on the top right of your booklet. Open the NEET 2025 answer key and look up that code.
2. Check each answer. Write C next to every correct answer, X next to every wrong one and U next to every unattempted one.
3. Apply the formula. With 130 correct and 30 wrong, your score is (4 × 130) − 30 = 490 marks.
4. Compare with the cutoff. See the cutoff table further down this page.
5. Estimate your rank. Enter your marks in the NEET marks vs rank predictor.

NEET 2025 Paper Analysis — Subject-Wise Difficulty

NEET 2025 — Overall Difficulty: Moderate to Tough. Roughly 28% of questions were tough, 38% moderate, and 33% easy across the paper. Physics was reported by most test-takers as the toughest of the three subjects, while Biology remained the most scoring.

NEET 2025 vs NEET 2024 — Which Was Tougher?

Was NEET 2025 harder than NEET 2024?

Yes — on balance, NEET 2025 was considered somewhat tougher than NEET 2024, largely because of a more numerical-heavy Physics section. This is also reflected in the final cutoff, which dropped for every category compared to 2024.

NEET 2025 Final Cutoff — Category-Wise Qualifying Marks

NTA released the NEET 2025 cutoff along with the results on June 14, 2025. Out of 22,09,318 candidates who appeared, 12,36,531 qualified — a qualification rate of 55.96%. Mahesh Kumar from Rajasthan topped the exam with AIR 1 and a score of 686/720.

Important: This qualifying cutoff decides eligibility for counselling only — it does not guarantee a government MBBS seat. Seat allotment depends on the separate, much higher admission cutoff set during MCC and state counselling rounds.
