The Experiments of Faraday and Henry

In the first experiment of Faraday and Henry, the coil was connected to a galvanometer. After that a bar magnet was pushed towards the coil This was done in such a way that the north pole was pointing towards the coil. It was observed that as the bar magnet shifted, the galvanometer showed deflection.

Magnetic Flux

Magnetic flux is a measurement of the total no. of magnetic field which passes through a close surface area.

Faraday’s Law of Induction

First law states that whenever there is a change in magnetic flux related to a coil, EMF is induced in that coil.

Second law states that the magnitude of EMF induced in the coil is directly proportional to the rate of change of magnetic flux related to that coil.

Lenz’s Law and Conservation of Energy

Lenz’s Law states that the polarity of induced emf is such that it tends to produce a current which opposes the change in magnetic flux that produced it.

Motional Electromotive Force

An emf induced by motion relative to a magnetic field is called a motional emf. It is denoted by the equation emf = LvB, where L is the length of the object moving at speed v relative to the strength of the magnetic field B.

Inductance

Inductance is known as the ratio of voltage to the rate of change of current. And tendency of an electrical conductor to oppose a change in the electric current flowing through it. The flow of electric current produces a magnetic field around the conductor. The field strength depends on the magnitude of the current, and it follows any changes in current.

Mutual Inductance

When two coils are brought in close to each other, the magnetic field in one of the coils tends to link with the other. This further leads to the generating voltage in the second coil. This coil’s property which affects or changes the current and voltage in a secondary coil is called mutual inductance.

Self Inductance

Self Inductance is the way of a coil to resist changes in current in itself. Whenever current changes through a coil, they induce an EMF, which is directly  proportional to the rate of change of current through the coil.

AC Generator

An AC generator is a machine that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. The AC Generator's input supply is mechanical energy supplied by gas turbines, steam turbines, and combustion engines and the output is alternating electrical power in the form of alternating current and voltage.
