NEET 2022 Exam Date — Key Events

On July 17, 2022, the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) was administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA). 16,14,777 people took the exam, out of the 18,72,341 applicants who registered.

What Was the NEET 2022 Exam Pattern?

The NEET exam pattern 2022 must be familiarised with before taking the NEET exam in 2022. NEET 2022 was conducted offline (pen-and-paper) for 3 hours and 20 minutes, with 200 total questions — of which candidates must attempt exactly 180. The paper carried 720 marks, with +4 for correct answers and −1 for incorrect ones.

How Is the NEET 2022 Paper Divided Into Sections?

Each subject — Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology — carries 50 questions split across two sections:

- Section A: 35 compulsory questions

- Section B: 15 questions — attempt any 10

This means candidates answer 45 questions per subject × 4 subjects = 180 total questions.

How Many Marks Is Each Subject Worth in NEET 2022?

Each subject is worth 180 marks (45 questions × 4 marks). Biology (Botany + Zoology combined) carries 360 marks, making it the single highest-scoring section and the most critical to master.

NEET 2022 Paper Analysis — Subject-Wise Breakdown

NEET 2022 was considered moderate overall, with Physics slightly easier than previous years, Chemistry slightly harder, and Biology largely NCERT-based. Here is a detailed breakdown by subject.

Physics Analysis

• Class distribution: 58% from Class 12, 42% from Class 11
• Difficulty: Section A — 62.9% Easy, 34.3% Moderate, 2.9% Difficult; Section B — slightly harder than Section A
