Curved surface area of a right circular cylinder is 4.4 m2.

Question:

Curved surface area of a right circular cylinder is $4.4 \mathrm{~m}^{2}$. If the radius of the base of the cylinder is $0.7 \mathrm{~m}$. Find its height. (Take $\pi=3.14$ )

Solution:

Given that

Radius of the base of the cylinder (r) = 0.7 m

Curved surface area of cylinder (C.S.A) $=4.4 \mathrm{~m}^{2}$

Let the height of the cylinder be h

The curved surface area of a cylinder is given by: 2πrh

$2 \pi \mathrm{rh}=4.4 \mathrm{~m}^{2}$

$2 * 3.14^{*} 0.7^{*} \mathrm{~h}=4.4 \mathrm{~m}^{2}$

h = 4.4 ÷ 2 ∗ 3.14 ∗ 0.7

= 1 m

Therefore the height of the cylinder is 1 m.
