IIT Kanpur Admission
IIT Kanpur is one of the IITs in the country that offers undergraduate programs. IIT Kanpur conducts JEE Advanced, which is one of the top engineering entrance exams in the country. The JEE Advanced is conducted every year for admission to the B.Tech programs offered by the different IITs in India.
Let’s take a look at how IIT Kanpur admissions are conducted through JEE Advanced.
JEE Main Examination: JEE Main is the first stage in the selection process and is conducted by NTA. To qualify for JEE Main, candidates need to meet the cut-off criteria set by NTA.
Qualify JEE Main: Top performers in JEE Main are only allowed to appear in JEE Advanced exams.
JEE Advanced Examination: The JEE Advanced exam is a more difficult exam and tests students on their problem solving and analytical skills.
Ranking and counselling: After passing the JEE Advanced, candidates are ranked according to their performance. The ranking determines the sequence in which candidates can select their preferred IIT and B.Tech program during the counselling process.
Counselling and seat allocation: The centralized counseling process is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Candidates have to register for the JoSAA counseling process and select their preferred Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) or B.Tech programs according to their JEE Advanced rank. Seats are allocated on the basis of merit and candidate preference.
Document verification and admission: Once a seat has been allocated, candidates must report to the respective Indian Institute of Technology for document verification and admission fees.
