NCERT Solutions for Class 10 Maths Chapter 11 Exercise 11.1 Areas Related To Circles - PDF Download

Class 10

NCERT solutions for class 10 maths chapter 11 Areas related to circles ex 11.1 is based on the areas and circumference of the circle that students have learned about in previous lessons. This exercise is challenging because it forces students to work on their math skills. Questions are in the form of problem-sums, where you have to explain a statement and figure out its math meaning before you use formulas to figure out the answer.

These concepts may be used by students to identify the circumference of a complex figure or to identify another element, such as the radius of a circle. Ex 11.1 in NCERT solutions class 10 maths chapter 11 is composed of a total of fourteen questions that are designed to simulate a student's higher thinking process.

Topics Covered in Exercise 11.1 Class 10 Mathematics Questions

NCERT solutions for class 10 maths chapter 11 ex 11.1 covers the topic of areas of sector and segment of a circle.

1.

Areas of Sector and Segment of a Circle

  1. Areas of Sector and Segment of a Circle - The portion (or part) of the circular region enclosed by two radii and the corresponding arc is called a sector of the circle and the portion (or part) of the circular region enclosed between a chord and the corresponding arc is called a segment of the circle.

Areas of Sector - There are two types of sectors: 1. Major sector, 2. Minor sector

  • A major sector is defined as a sector that is greater than a semicircle.

  • A minor sector is defined as a sector that is less than a semicircle.

Formula of Area of Sector

You can use this formula to figure out how much space a piece of a circle covers. You can think of it as the total area of the circle.

Area of sector of a circle =θ/360∘×πr2,

where ‘r’ is the radius of the circle and ‘θ’ is the angle at the center of the circle.

Segment of a Circle - There are two types of segments: 1. Mejor segment, 2. Minor segment

  • A major segment is made from the major arc.

  • A minor segment is made from the minor arc.

Formula of Segment of a Circle

Area of segment of a circle = Area of the corresponding sector – Area of the corresponding triangle.

Area of segment = θ/360×πr2 − ½xr2 sinθ

Length of an arc of a sector of a circle with radius r and angle with degree measure is = θ/360∘× 2πr
