Question:
Find the area of a trapezium whose parallel sides are 9 cm and 6 cm respectively and the distance between these sides is 8 cm.
Solution:
$\operatorname{ar}($ trapezium $)=\frac{1}{2} \times($ sum of parallel sides $) \times($ distance between them $)$
$=\frac{1}{2} \times(9+6) \times 8$
= 60 cm2
Hence, the area of the trapezium is 60 cm2.
