JEE Advanced 2024 Exam Analysis (OUT): Check Paper 1 and Paper 2 Difficulty Level and More
JEE Mains & AdvancedAnalysis of Paper 1:
Students found the Maths section to be easy to moderate, while Chemistry was moderate, and Physics was relatively difficult.
Mathematics was difficult and lengthy, while Paper 2 was of moderate level but also lengthy. Both papers included questions from Functions, Matrices, Permutation and Combination, Conic Section, Probability and Statistics, Complex Numbers, and Vector and 3-D Geometry. This year, there were fewer questions from Calculus compared to previous years. Even though the topic of Solution of Triangles was removed from the syllabus, two questions related to it were still asked in a comprehension format.
In the Chemistry section, there was an imbalance as more weightage was given to Organic Chemistry. Inorganic Chemistry had a few direct questions from the NCERT textbook. Physical Chemistry questions included topics like Chemical Kinetics, Chemical Equilibrium, Atomic Structure, and Thermodynamics. Organic Chemistry questions mainly focused on Amines, Polymers, Biomolecules, and Oxygen-containing Compounds, along with some named reactions. Mixed-concept questions were also present. Students rated this section as moderate.
Physics had more weightage given to topics such as Kinematics, Rotational Motion, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Modern Physics, Capacitors, Current Electricity, Optics, Electrostatics, and Electromagnetic Induction. This section was reported as the toughest among the three subjects. Despite its difficulty, students found it to be a balanced section in terms of topic distribution. Overall, the Physics section required a deeper understanding and was more challenging compared to Maths and Chemistry.
Analysis of Paper 2:
Students found the overall level of the paper moderately tough, tougher than Paper 1. Some students reported that Physics and Chemistry were moderate, but Maths was relatively tough.
In Chemistry, the questions were tricky. Equal weightage was given to Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry. Inorganic Chemistry had a few questions about p-block elements, chemical bonding, and coordination compounds, which were directly from the NCERT textbook. Physical Chemistry covers Electrochemistry, Ionic and Chemical Equilibrium, and Surface Chemistry. Organic Chemistry questions mainly focused on Aldehydes and Ketones, Polymers, Biomolecules, and mixed-concept questions. Qualitative Analysis appeared in comprehension-based questions. Overall, students rated this section as moderate.
In Physics, questions were asked from chapters on Waves and Sound, Ray and Wave Optics, Fluids, EM Waves, Thermodynamics, Modern Physics, Kinematics, Gravitation, and Electrostatics. Modern Physics had more weightage. Students found this section moderately tough. They felt the section could have been more well-balanced, with some questions involving tricky and lengthy calculations.
Mathematics was considered the toughest section by students. It included questions on Functions, Limits, Application of Derivatives, Definite Integrals, Area under the Curve, Inverse Trigonometric Functions, Vectors, 3D Geometry, Circle, Parabola, Quadratic Equations, Permutation and Combination, and Probability. Students found this section to be the most challenging of all.
In summary, the overall paper was moderately tough, with Mathematics being the most difficult section, followed by moderate sections in Physics and Chemistry. The Chemistry section was tricky with equal weightage given to different branches, Physics had an unbalanced difficulty with lengthy calculations, and Maths was the hardest for most students.
Jee Advanced 2024 Exam Pattern
-
In JEE Advanced 2024, there will be two mandatory question papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Each paper will last for 3 hours, making the total examination time 6 hours. Both papers must be completed by all candidates.
-
The exam will be conducted in a computer-based test (CBT) mode. Candidates can choose to take the exam in either English or Hindi.
-
The question papers will be divided into three sections: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Each section will test the candidate's knowledge and problem-solving abilities in these subjects.
-
The marking scheme for JEE Advanced varies each year. This means the way marks are awarded or deducted can change. Candidates should be aware that some questions may have negative markings, where incorrect answers result in a deduction of marks.
-
To summarize, JEE Advanced 2024 will include two mandatory 3-hour papers conducted in a computer-based format, available in English and Hindi. The exam covers Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, with a marking scheme that may include negative marking.
