P-Block - NEET Previous Year Questions with Complete Solutions

P Block NEET Previous Year Questions cover Groups 13 to 18 (boron to noble gases). NTA has asked 3–5 questions from this chapter every year, making it one of the highest-weightage inorganic chemistry topics in NEET. Practising solved PYQs is the fastest way to identify recurring reaction types, oxidation states, and structure-based questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions.

Is NCERT enough for P Block NEET questions?

Yes, NCERT Class 12 Chemistry Chapters 7 and 8 cover approximately 85–90% of what NTA asks in P Block. However, NCERT must be read deeply — every reaction, every structure diagram, and every exception mentioned in the text or in-text boxes is fair game. Pair NCERT reading with solved PYQs to cover the remaining 10–15%.

Which P Block topics are most important for NEET 2025 and 2026?

The highest-priority P Block topics for NEET are: structures and basicity of oxoacids of phosphorus and sulphur, hybridisation and geometry of xenon fluorides (XeF₂, XeF₄, XeF₆), interhalogen compounds, allotropes of carbon and sulphur, and the anomalous behaviour of the first member in each group. These topics have appeared in at least 4 of the last 6 NEET papers.

How many questions come from P Block in NEET every year?

NTA typically asks 3 to 5 questions from P Block Elements in NEET Chemistry each year, contributing 12–20 marks. Based on papers from 2019 to 2024, Group 15 (nitrogen family) and Group 16 (oxygen/sulphur family) appear most frequently, followed by xenon compounds from Group 18.

How is P Block divided in the NEET syllabus?

Per the NTA NEET syllabus, P Block is covered across two chapters: P Block Elements (Part 1) in Class 11 covers Groups 13 and 14, while P Block Elements (Part 2) in Class 12 covers Groups 15, 16, 17, and 18. NEET questions come from both parts, with Part 2 (Class 12) typically contributing more questions.

What is the best way to memorise P Block structures for NEET?

Draw each structure by hand — do not rely on recognition alone. For oxoacids, use the rule: count P–OH bonds for basicity and check if the central atom has a P=O bond to determine reducing nature. For xenon compounds, count bonding pairs + lone pairs around Xe to determine hybridisation and geometry quickly.

Can solving P Block PYQs alone help me score full marks in this topic?

Solving 5–6 years of P Block PYQs is extremely effective but not entirely sufficient on its own. PYQs build pattern recognition and reveal NTA's preferred question styles. Combine them with thorough NCERT reading, structure drawing practice, and at least one mock test under exam conditions. Students in eSaral's NEET batches — guided by IIT Bombay faculty — follow this exact sequence.
