NEET Result 2026 — Expected Date & Live Status

The NEET UG 2026 exam was conducted on May 3, 2026, across 557 cities in India and 14 international locations, with over 22–24 lakh students appearing. That makes it one of the most competitive medical entrance exams in history.

The official NEET Result 2026 date has not been announced by the National Testing Agency at the time of publishing. Based on past patterns, the result is expected in the first or second week of June 2026, roughly 4–6 weeks after the exam.

Before the result, NTA releases a provisional answer key. Candidates can challenge individual answers by paying ₹200 per question. After reviewing challenges, the final answer key is published — and the result is calculated based on that.

How to Check NEET Result 2026 Online (Step-by-Step) 

Once NTA publishes the result, follow these exact steps:

Step 1 — Visit the official NEET result portal: neet.nta.nic.in

Step 2 — Click the link that says "NEET UG 2026 Result" on the homepage.

Step 3 — Enter your Application Number in the designated field.

Step 4 — Enter your Date of Birth or Password (the same details used during registration).

Step 5 — Fill in the security pin shown on screen and click "Submit".

Step 6 — Your NEET 2026 scorecard will appear. Download it and save a PDF copy.

Step 7 — Take a printout — you will need it during counselling and college admission.

What Does the NEET 2026 Scorecard Contain? 

The NEET 2026 scorecard is your official performance document. It is required at every stage from counselling registration to final MBBS admission. Here is what every scorecard will include:

• Total marks obtained out of 720
• Percentile score — the percentage of candidates who scored equal to or below you

How Marks Are Calculated

NEET 2026 follows the standard marking scheme: +4 for every correct answer, 1-1for every incorrect answer, and 0 for unattempted questions.

NEET 2026 Expected Cutoff Marks — Category-Wise 

The NEET cutoff has two meanings that students often confuse. Understanding the difference is critical for planning your next step.

How NEET Tie-Breaking Works

If two candidates score identical marks, NTA uses a seven-step tie-breaking sequence:

1. Higher Biology (Botany + Zoology) marks
2. Higher Chemistry marks
3. Higher Physics marks
4. Fewer incorrect answers overall
5. Fewer incorrect + correct answers in Biology
6. Fewer incorrect + correct answers in Chemistry
7. Fewer incorrect + correct answers in Physics

NEET 2026 Merit List — How It Works 

After the result, NTA prepares three separate merit lists:

1. Overall NEET UG Merit List — All qualifying candidates ranked by score. Used for All India Quota (AIQ) counselling, which covers 15% of MBBS seats in government colleges.

2. 15% All India Quota (AIQ) Merit List — Maintained by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). This is for central and deemed universities, AIIMS, JIPMER, and the 15% AIQ in state colleges.

3. State Quota Merit List (85%) — Each state releases its own merit list for 85% of state quota seats. Separate registration and counselling are needed for each state.

State quota cutoffs vary significantly by state — a student from a smaller state with fewer applicants may secure a seat at a lower score than a student from a high-competition state like Maharashtra or Tamil Nadu.
