Solution:

Area of the rectangle $=(13.6 \times 3.4)=46.24$ sq $\mathrm{m}$

Thus, area of the square is $46.24 \mathrm{sq} \mathrm{m}$.

Length of each side of the square $=\sqrt{46.24} \mathrm{~m}$

Using long division method:

$\sqrt{46.24}=6.8$

Thus, the length of a side of the square is 6.8 metres.
