Question:

Verify that 2 is a zero of the polynomial $x^{3}+4 x^{2}-3 x-18$

 

Solution:

Let $p(\mathrm{x})=x^{3}+4 x^{2}-3 x-18$

Now, $p(2)=2^{3}+4 \times 2^{2}-3 \times 2-18=0$

$\therefore 2$ is a zero of $p(x)$.
